Having been given a new set of responsibilities, I take notes

I entered and found everybody at the counter buzzing away in conversation. I did a walk around looking for pictures I might take, I looked from the back, I looked from the front across the counter where I could see their faces. I didn't see a picture that grabbed me and I was too hungry, so I sat down. Then cowboy John turned and looked at me. "When did you come in?" He asked. "You're late! Last one here has to be the secretary. Last one has to take notes."

"I will take visual notes," I said.

I took this note. Leslie immediately came with my coffee and took my order. Now she has brought me my food. I am going to eat it now.

Boy! Did I oversleep!

I don't know what happened. I got to bed a little about 1:00 AM, reasonably early for me. I was really looking forward to getting up and being at Abby's right when she opened at 8 AM. But something happened. Come 8 AM, I could barely stir. I think I woke up, briefly – I'm not sure. I sure didn't get up. I couldn't make myself get up until nearly 10 AM and now here it is 10:15 Martina is bringing me a cup of coffee. I hope this succeeds in getting me going. I've got lots to do today.

Outside trucks inside trucks and one hand not quite on the wheel (Update, 11:39 AM: single picture post altered to become "Three Studies of Kalib at Abby's")

Kalib and I are at Abby's. Yes there have been trains rolling about the house since he arrived, but here are at Abby's there are trucks. Inside trucks outside trucks.

Perhaps it is a foolish quest, I am going to try to post this from here. Well, the text will post. Will have to see about the picture. There will be a school bus later today.*

*Yes, Squarespace did strip the picture and I am only now - two hours later - finally able to add it back in. In the meantime, this sat here as a picture less post. An interesting thing did happen, though. I expain below, under what will now be the third picture in this post.

Well, all those Mormon church leaders who raised me and my extended family members who remain faithful would or will be horrified to see this. "What kind of example are you setting for your young grandson?!" I can hear them exclaim.

I am content with it The coffee is good. My day begins better because of it.

Ok. This is what happened. I took this last two pictures after I had attempted to post the first picture remotely from Abby's but failed after the Squarespace app stripped it out of the picture. I then decided not to bother trying to post these last two from Abby's but just to email them to myself and combine them with the first in one post which would then become "Three Studies of Kalib at Abby's."

When I post remotely, I cannot post more than one picture at a time, whether I use the app or the mail workaround, but of course when I sit down at my computer I can put as many pictures in a post as I desire.

Interestingly, when I first tried to email this bottom picture to myself, I somehow inadvertantly used the address Squarespace gave me to do the email workaround. I did not realize I had done this. All I knew was the picture I had emailed to myself was not showing up. So I tried again. Again, it did not show up.

Then, when I got to this computer and opened up Logbook I was surprised to see two posts I had not intended to put. Both were of this picture standing completely alone. No text. Not a single word.

This causes me to wonder if maybe the Squarespace failing is that, most often, is less that it strips the picture out, but that it cannot properly handle both picture and text together, but handle either one alone. So, as a test, I will post my Daily School Bus this afternoon from Metro Cafe. It will be a wordless post. Picture only, but I will try a headline.

Then I will see if it successfully posts the picture, and add words in later.

Another school bus, as I sit and sip my coffee at Abby's Home Cooking

Who says there can only be one daily school bus? I have finished my breakfast, but I am still at Abby's, reading the news on my iPhone, sipping coffee and watching schoolbuses pass by as the day slowly dawns. Well, at least this bus. Probably others too, if I had paid less attention to my food and more to the road.

I realize that Squarespace will probably strip the image from this post too, just as it did the last one, the one before that, the one before that and so on. But I have decided I can't let Squarespace defeat me. It can and has hampered me, slowed me down, set me back. But I can't let it defeat me. If Squarespace does strip this image, then I will just add it back in along with the previous one once I return to my office at home - pretty soon.

I just want to spend a little more time sipping on my coffee first. There are few things I love more than taking a little bit of time in the morning to pretend I have no responsibilities and I can just sit and sip coffee forever and all will be good and right in the world.

*This post as been sitting picture-less for 56 minutes. Things have settled down here now. Jim is keeping his paw off the trackpad, even as he rests right next to it. Late this afternoon or early evening, I will pick Margie up in Anchorage. Little boys will be coming back to the house with us.

The Daily School Bus: Caught at an intersection in the rain at the very beginning of the day

Well here I am, at 8 AM about to enter the parking lot to have breakfast at Abby's Home Cooking. I had already begun my turn when I saw this school bus headed down Church Road past the intersection ahead. There was no traffic behind me, no traffic coming at me. I stopped, right here, not quite off the road, not quite into the parking lot and quickly tapped three frames. Hence we have the Daily School Bus at the very beginning of the day.

I am taking a chance and am posting this from Abby's Home Cooking. If Squarespace strips the picture out, I will add it back in once I return to my house and office.*

*This post has been sitting picture-less for an hour-and-forty-five minutes. It did not take me that long to return my office, but I had other matters to attend to. Well, it's an hour-and-forty-six minutes. Jim keeps placing one paw on my track-pad, which causes everything to stop in my computer until I remove his paw. So he has slowed me down a bit. Well, one-hour and seventeen-minutes now.
