First day of spring - joggers in the cold, young writer with cash

It was the first day of spring and when I got up this morning and went out walking, the temperature was right about 0 F (-18 C). Margie had taken the car to Anchorage so she could babysit. I did not drive her in as I usually do because I had too much work to do and preferred to be here without a car and get a little more of it done than I would if I had taken the time to drive her into Anchorage and had then brought the car back with me.

Still, I needed my afternoon coffee. Fortunately, Caleb showed up just in time and let me borrow his truck. It was a little warmer by now but still pretty crisp.

I am certain the joggers were warm, though.

That's what jogging does - it warms you up.

Anyway, it's a lot colder up north and I will be up north again next week.

Yesterday, Caleb also came home in time for me to go to Metro, but after I got there, Carmen handed me a steaming, hot, Americano but there was something wrong with the damn cup and it collapsed in my hand, causing all that hot coffee to spill right into my lap. This actually means it spilled onto some items no guy ever wants to have hot coffee spilled on and then found its way to my backside, too, where it pooled up and really burned for a bit.

Carmen was very concerned. I must stress this was not her fault. It was a defective cup - structually weak.

"I'll be okay," I told her, "but it's a good thing I've fathered all my children already."

She said she spilled coffee on herself one day and come night, it really hurt.

And you know what? It did.

It is a superficial burn but still it is bit sore. Not terribly, but noticeably. The work I am doing requires me to sit at my desk from morn until late night and that aggravates and prolongs it a bit. I can't just go lie down somewhere and take the pressure off. I've got to get this work done.

I shouldn't even be taking the time to make this post, but, even though I have cut back dramatically on my blogging and plan to keep it cut back, I just can't let it die altogether.

Today, I found Shoshana at the window. We had not done a "Young Writer" study for awhile, so we did one:

Young Writer Study, #79,882.3339: It could have been a credit card, but it was cash.

Sorry you had a defective cup! Always nice to see a new post, however. Sending good thoughts for your computer work to go easily.....
