Chicago joins two vegetables by the fire

I'm still feeling lazy, still vegging by the fire with Jim, but Chicago has joined us so I had better put it in a picture that includes her. You haven't seen her yet since my return, because she usually waits until the initial flurry of greetings is over before she comes out and by then my battery was dead. Whenever there are little people in the house she just disappears. Lynxton is still here, but he's asleep. Margie is grocery shopping. So it's just us three - Jim curled up on my ankles, Chicago snug on my chest – vegging together by the fire. If Lynxton should wake up before Margie returns, then Chicago will disappear, I will have to get up to care for him and Jim's comfy rest will get disturbed.

How could you doubt?? Do you not think I know my Chicago??

A raven landed on my windowsill today and informed me that it had heard rumors and innuendo that thousands of people did not believe me yesterday when I said "Chicago loves the woodstove when there is fire in it." Okay, doubters! I took this just a couple of minutes ago. Can you still doubt?

Chicago loves the woodstove

Chicago loves the woodstove when there is fire in it. I love it too. I'm not sure why, but no other source of home heat feels anywhere near so good as that from a fire in the wood stove. Maybe it's because it radiates. The wood has stored the energy of the sun and when it releases it, it's like it's coming straight from the sun on a pleasant day in May.

Chicago also loves the month of May.

The good black cat, the bushy-bearded man and the jealous calico

Charlie and Melanie have gone home now, but Jim is still here. I was done posting for the day, but I decided I must post at least one cat picture today.

I almost forgot to mention: Chicago is jealous. But then you can probably see that for yourself.

Calico cat waits for a view more trick-or-treaters

The black cat is not the only cat here with me as I await more trick-or-treaters. Chicago, the calico cat, is here too. Normally, I would be in my office at my computer at this time, but I could not hear any trick-or-treaters from back there. One more pair came after the two tall boys – two girls, one of medium height in some kind of big cat costume and a littler one dressed as a witch, I believe. But I had gotten up to get something in the kitchen and had set my iPhone down on the table. I heard them knocking and I looked all over but I couldn't find my phone and I couldn't just leave them standing at the door, so I had to give them candy without taking a picture. Other than that, there has been no trick or treaters here except those four. I am not sure there will be any more. but I have to maintain my spot out here in the living room, just in case. I could be sitting at my computer in my office getting something done, but then a bear might sneak in and steal all the candy.
